Who Invented The Refrigerator (&) When? • It took many years for the refrigerator t be invented. • In the early 1800’s Oliver Evans was the first to design the first practical refrigerator. The working prototype for his design hadn’t appeared until 1834. • Sometime in the 1800’s Jacob Perkins built a refrigeration machine that is thought to be the forerunner of the modern refrigerator. • A decade after Perkin’s invention, a U.S. physician John Gorrie, created the refrigeration unit based on the design of Oliver Evans. This was thought of to be the first refrigerator.
Why Was The Refrigerator Invented? TO KEEP FOOD FROM SPOILING!
How Has The Refrigerator Made Peoples Lives Easier? Over the last 150 years refrigeration’s great strides offered us ways to preserve and cooled food. Refrigeration brought production centers and the North American population on together; it tore down the barriers of climates and seasons. According to Nagengast, the household refrigerator is one of the greatest unsung inventions. Engineering technology made it reliable by perfecting it. Also inexpensive for world wide ownership. Nagengast also stated, “The refrigerator changed the way people ate and socially affected the household. They are no longer dependent one ice delivery…”
5 Ways The Refrigerator Has Changed Over Time • The Idea of cooling foods dates back to the ancient Roman era…THE ICEBOX! • In 1914 the electric refrigerator was invented. • New advances continued in 1944. • During 1952, refrigerators began to be produced with auto ice makers. • Years later, the magnetic strip that helps t keep the doors closed was standard on new friges.
Why I Chose This Topic… I chose the refrigerator because the refrigerator is an invention that people cannot live without. Its made people’s lives easier than how it was years ago. Back then they had iceboxes and they couldn’t keep food longer than a day or a couple of hours because it would go bad. The modern refrigerator helps people on a daily basis.
