  3. extinct • to die out, not exist any more. Ex. Mastadons became extinct 10, 000 years ago.

  4. artifact Objects used by people long ago.

  5. history • The written story of the past.

  6. Pre-history The time before written records.

  7. band • Small group to which some Native Americans belonged.

  8. flint • A kind of hard rock used for making tools and points for arrows and spears.

  9. atlatl • A wooden stick used in pre-historic to throw a spear.

  10. archeologist • A scientist who studies the way people lived in the past, including prehistoric.

  11. Beringia • A land bridge believed to have connected Asia with North America for about 2,000 years during the Ice Age.
