  1. ISO Liaison Report Hidenori Shinoda 6/24/2003 London

  2. Recent meetings • T-Con on WADO on May 8, 2003 • Discussion on series instance UID and multipart objects • Emmanuel modified the draft and updated to version 1.9a. • ISO/TC215 TC plenary and WGs’ meetings were held between May 19 and 22 in Oslo, Norway. • There was no meeting for WADO. • Nick Brown made a presentation about the progress of the preparation and announced that the draft ver. 1.9a would be presented for public comments and the closing date would be Aug. 20. • Nick also stated about the schedule of a T-Con and voting.

  3. Other topics • Methodology subgroup of WG2 discussed the submission of HL7 standard to ISO. • Ver.2.5 would be submitted when ANSI would approve it. • HL7 was requested to submit RIM ver.1.25. • HL7 was also requested to submit CDA level 1. But, subgroup would prefer to wait until level 1-3 have appropriate ANSI status. • WG2 resolved to propose a new work item about developing a meta-model that would enable to compare various medical informatics standards. • There were many discussions about telehealth, home healthcare, stakeholders, interoperability of devices based on IEEE 1073, UID of subjects, data-types, etc.

  4. Other topics-to be continued • WG1, Health Records and Modeling Coordination, had an intensive discussion on the definition of EHR. • To provide international common platform to discuss EHR • To support determination, development, and use of related/required standards

Other topics-to be continued • WG4, Security, proposed several new work items; • Privilege management and access control as TS • Part1:Overview and policy management • Part2:Privilege management • Part3:Access control management • Functional and structural roles as TS • Security requirements for archives and backup • Part2:Guidelines for backup and restore/recovery • Security management in health using ISO/IEC17799 as IS • Public key infrastructure as IS • Part1:Framwork and overview • Part2:Certificate profile • Part3:Policy management and certificate authority

  6. Other topics-to be continued • A new working group was established for e-Pharmacy and Medicines Business. Ray Rogers of UK has been appointed as a convener. • Discussion about restructuring the TC has been continued. They formed 4 groups to discuss the subject separately. • ISO/TC215 has a joint WG meeting between plenary meetings. They will have a meeting on Oct. 1-3 at Aarhun in Denmark this year. • ISO/TC215 will have a plenary meeting at Washington, DC in May 9-13 next year.
