October 2017 LCCU MeetingCcleaner Hack • What to do – if you updated to version 5.33 after 8/15 and are running 32-bit version of Windows • Delete and install the latest version of Ccleaner, 5.35 or later. This will replace the infected executables. • Run a complete virus and malware scan or roll back (restore) to a pre-8/15 version of your system. • To see if it has been on your system, open Registry Editor, navigate to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Piriform and see if there is a key labeled Agomo:MUID .

Later deleted and reinstalled it. • Ran a Norton complete scan, it found js.downloader, status “critical”. Norton said it was fully resolved. • Ran Malwarebytes Antimalware, it identified 3 threats, which I quarantined & deleted: • Trojan.Floxif in C:\Downloads\ccsetup533.exe • Pup.Optional.SlimCleanerPlus, registry key & file • Reran Norton and MBAM – nothing found.

Avira still supports XP (as of 2016). • Disconnect from internet when you don’t need it; use Comodo Free Firewall when you do. • Delete outdated software such as MS Office 2003 and earlier that have security vulnerabilities.

October 2017 LCCU MeetingHomegroups • A homegroup is a group of PCs on a home network that can share files and PC-connected printers and stream media to devices like TVs & game consoles. • It is protected with a password. • You can have only one homegroup per network. One PC creates the homegroup; the others join it. • You can select which libraries and devices to share. Default access is view only, but you can allow view and edit.

December 2016 LCCU MeetingWindows 10 File History • By default, it will back up Documents, Pictures, Desktop, Downloads, OneDrive, Music and Video folders, but you can add add or exclude folders. • Back up to an external drive or network drive. • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Backup, and under “Backup using file history”, select “Add a drive”, and select your drive. This will turn on “Automatically back up my files”. • Select “More options” to configure.

Files saved on another computer can be restored as well. • You can restore previous versions. For a given folder, you can restore deleted files.
