  1. Write equation for the statement 2 variables

  2. Recap- Linear Equation An linear equation is an algebraic expression that is always equated to either a numerical value or another algebraic expression. For example: 7x + 3 = 10 LHS RHS The equality sign (=) shows that the value of the expression to the left of the ‘=’ sign is equal to the value of the expression to the right of the ‘=’ sign. LHS = RHS

  3. Recap - Some more examples of linear equation 4a + 1 = 8 2x -5 =10

  4. Recap -linear equation in one variable A number added to 5 to get 25 Lets look for phrases in the sentence for which we can already form expression and convert it into algebraic expression. A number added to 5to get 25 +5 x =25 x+5 Ans: x + 5 = 25 This equation x + 5 = 25 is formed by one variable x whose highest power is 1. So it is called a linear equation in one variable

  5. Linear equation in two variable • When a linear equation is formed by two variables x and y whose highest • power is 1, it is called as a linear equation in two variables • For examples a - b = 10 is formed by two variables a and b whose highest • power is 1, Hence it is a linear equation in two variables • Some more examples • p * q = 10 • m / n =5

  6. Example 1:- Sum of number x and y is 45 Lets look for phrases in the sentence for which we can already form expression and convert it into algebraic expression. Sum of number x and y is 45 x +y =45 x + y Ans: x + y = 45

  7. Example 2:- Difference of number a and b is 10 Lets look for phrases in the sentence for which we can already form expression and convert it into algebraic expression. Difference of number aand b is 10 a -b =10 a-b Ans: a - b = 10

  8. Example 3:- Product of number m and n is 10 Lets look for phrases in the sentence for which we can already form expression and convert it into algebraic expression. Product of number mand nis 24 m * n =24 m * n Ans: m * n = 24

  9. Example 4:- Subtracting a from b gives 20 Lets look for phrases in the sentence for which we can already form expression and convert it into algebraic expression. Subtracting a from b gives 20 -a b =20 b - a Ans: b – a = 20

  10. Example 5:- quotient of number f and g is 6 Lets look for phrases in the sentence for which we can already form expression and convert it into algebraic expression. quotient of number fand g is 6 f /g =6 f / g Ans: f / g = 6

  11. Try these product of number x and y is 30 subtract m from n gives 24
