  4. Community Solution Propositions • Install locking gate at the parking lot entrance • Park’s response to proposition: • Might help, but might push after hours loitering into residential area. Willing to install gates if consensus of group.

  6. Community Solution Propositions • Increase Police Surveillance at the Park after sunset • SJPD and Park Ranger to respond to this request

  7. Community Solution Proposition • Increase Park Ranger Patrol

  8. Community Solution Proposition • Increase Park Ranger Patrol • Councilmember Herrera proposed and voted for approval of funding of more Park Rangers for neighborhood parks in 2014-15 budget. 3 additional park rangers assigned to hot spots. Operational in January 2015.

  9. Community Solution Proposition • Install and/or alter sprinkler timers in park to keep trespassers off of the grass

  10. Community Solution Proposition • Install and/or alter sprinkler timers in park to keep trespassers off of the grass • We have tested in other parks and what occurs is more vandalism. Irrigation heads get knocked off creating repeated flow. Not recommended.

  11. Community Solution Proposition • Install motion sensing lights at the top lookout that turn on an hour after dark.

  12. Community Solution Proposition • Install motion sensing lights at the top lookout that turn on an hour after dark. • This is an option. A similar site was estimated at $20,000. We would be happy to explore this option to determine actual costs. Explore adding camera. Installing lights do not always deter. Historically, lights have been vandalized and copper wire stolen, so there is a chance this will occur.

  13. Next Steps • Work with Parks Staff to explore suggestions – costs • Continue to report illegal behavior in the park to police • Form Neighborhood Watch Groups • Establish “Friends of Fowler Creek Park”
