  5. Cytoplasm Gel-like substance inside the cell where most of the cell’s activities take place FUNCTION: Thick soup that cell parts swim in; also helps hold up cell shape

  7. Nucleus Control center of the cell FUNCTION: Holds instructions for: 1. all cell jobs 2. making a new cell
