  2. O.S. The Off Screen Shot • This is done when the writer or the director wants the audience to hear a sound or dialogue that is away from the camera. • For example: A person talking to another character on the phone. Or someone shouting at another character from another room. • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdS2vXxPmiU • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFhrwI1RIkM • This is also used to make an audience believe the character is there. (As in the case of Maris Crane).

  3. Different from a VO (Voice Over) • Voice-overs let us hear what the character is thinking or what a narrator is saying. • Sample – Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless.

  4. Exercise http://www.imsdb.com/scripts/When-a-Stranger-Calls.html Taking the examples we just saw, create a scene where you would use and O.S. (Off Screen Shot). Do it using the two column format you used for your assignment.

  5. Assignments for Tuesday Practice makes perfect. If you feel you need to correct or redo your script you may do so. Email the finished product to me by Sunday. axela7@gmail.com or ahinoj34@epcc.edu. Also due on Tuesday the Camera FX assignment. (See your syllabus). For a refresher review Chapter 2 for camera FX and shots – also there will be readings posted on the website. Don’t worry about the sequence assignment! We fell a little behind so we’ll play catch up next week.
