  2. One of the best ways to determine the quality of the water in a lake, river, or stream, is to identify the organisms that live in it. Macro= visible to the naked eye Invertebrate= without a backbone Different species have different levels of sensitivity to pollution.

  3. Metamorphosis

  4. We will examine our samples from Lake Vincent, and count the numbers of each type of macroinvertebrate that we find.

  5. Some types that we have found in the past include: Ostracods

  6. Daphnia Rotifers

  7. Copepods Paramecium

  8. Mosquito, Mayfly, and Midge fly larvae

  9. Dragonfly and Damselfly larvae, and Water Scorpions

  10. and many others…
