  2. I brush my hair and put on make-up. cepillarse maquillarse Me cepillo el pelo y me maquillo. Infinitive, the reflexive pronoun can go two places: • attached to the end of the infinitive Yo voy a lavarme los dientes. 2) in front of the conjugated verb. Yo me voy a lavar los dientes.

  4. Gerund = -ing form of the verb -AR = “-ando”, -ER, -IR = “-iendo” Used to state what is happening now. (ahora) estar + -ando, -iendo For reflexives – the pronoun can go 2 places: attached to the end of the gerund. Yo estoy lavándome los dientes. (add accent to original stressed syllable) -ándome OR -iéndome 2) in front of the conjugated verb. Yo me estoy lavandolos dientes.

  5. Commands – tú, usted, ustedes Affirmative - attached to the end of the command Lávate los dientes. (add accent to original stressed syllable) 2) Negative - in front of the negative command No te laves los dientes.

  6. Verbs can become reflexive to show reciprocal actions – two or more people doing something to or for each other. Use nos, os or se to indicate a reciprocal action. ayudarse – to help each other. Nos ayudamos con la tarea. Reciprocal verbs abrazarse – to hug each other ayudarse quererse – to love each other respetarse – to respect each other contarse cuentos/chistes – to tell each other stories/jokes

  8. Reflexive verbs with DOP’s (lo, la, los, las) 1) Attach the DOP to the end, after the reflexive pronoun. Voy a lavarmelos dientes. Voy a lavármelos. (add an accent to the infinitive syllable) Estoy lavándomelos dientes. Estoy lavándomelos. (keep accent in orginal place)

  9. 2) In front of conjugated verb – Place the DOP after the reflexive pronoun. Me lavo los dientes. Me los lavo. Me voy a lavar los dientes. Melos voy a lavar. Me estoy lavando los dientes. Me los estoy lavando.

  10. 3) Commands Affirmative- attached to the end of the command, after the reflexive pronoun. Lávatelos dientes. Lávatelos. (keep accent on original stressed syllable) Negative - in front of the negative command, after the reflexive pronoun. No te laves los dientes. No telos laves.

  11. Rewrite, using the correct DOP. 1. Marisa va a pintarse las uñas. Marisa va a pintárselas. Marisa se las va a pintar. • Juan, lávate la cara. Juan, lávatela. • Yo quiero ponerme el impermeable.
