  8. Slide 8 Active Membership by Region • HG membership is flat YoY – but we are making strides • Was still negative last year, down -1.4% • All ten regions had increased declines or reduced gains • US HG: Gap was -2.9% last September, now -1.3% • R7-10: Was ahead just +0.4% last year, now +1.6% • GSM still behind YoY • Was improving steadily since January, but lost two tenths this month • STU improvements continue in all regions – was -8.2% last month Web Cast Etiquette: Ask questions using the online chat feature. 11. Slide 11 Society Memberships (including Affiliates) – Monthly YoY & Drivers 36% of the declines Total Society Memberships (held by IEEE Members): 314,764 YoY -1.4% … last month, -1.3% Including Affiliates (who are not IEEE members),total Society memberships are down year-over-year by -6,268 or -1.9%. Comm-unications Society -3,130 42% of the declines Web Cast Etiquette: Ask questions using the online chat feature. Technical help: help@readytalk.com

  12. Slide 12 MD Update: US MGM Program • IEEE-USA funding a merchandise reward program for each successful HG member referred and recruited. • Referring member gets a choice of IEEE-USA branded merchandise • 16 August-28 Feb: New member gets a $25 discount offer • 1 Mar-15 August: New member receives half year dues rate

  13. Slide 13 MD Update: Member Loyalty Program • Recognize members for their years of service as a member • Tangible award • Lapel pin and certificate • Goal to increase member loyalty and retention • Specifically within the first five years • Distinct from grade advancement • Tiers of recognition for cumulative years of service (YOS) in any grade • 2, 5, 10, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50 • www.ieee.org/loyalty Web Cast Etiquette: Ask questions using the online chat feature. Technical help: help@readytalk.com

  14. Slide 14 Member Loyalty Program Summary • IEEE MGA to stock pins and certificates • Both 8.5” x 11” and A4 sizes available • Section officers with spending authority can place an online order • Section Chair, Section MD Chair, Secretary or Treasurer • www.ieee.org/loyalty • Sections pay for pins and certificates at cost (US$14.00 per set of 5), plus shipping • Payment via CB/custody account transfer • Credit card, check payments secondary option but not preferred • Reports available in Section Vitality Dashboard and SAMIEE • Quickly identify your eligible members by YOS

  15. Slide 15 2015 MD Goals – New This Year • Section-level goals for both recruitment and retention • Will roll up to region goals • Goals based on three-year Section performance • Tracked monthly in regional MD reports • Bi-annual formal recognition for achievement • March and August Web Cast Etiquette: Ask questions using the online chat feature. Technical help: help@readytalk.com

  16. Slide 16 2015 MD Goals – New This Year Example – Retention • Section A improved two years in a row, then declined. At the same time their total membership grew by almost 13%. • For 2015 their retention goal is to overcome the decline. Section A needs to focus on providing member value and member engagement. • Section B sees declining retention as it continues to grow larger. The same number renew each year. Since this is on a larger denominator, the retention rates are declining. • Section B’s goal is to stop the retention decline and improve it by a tenth of a percent. Web Cast Etiquette: Ask questions using the online chat feature. Technical help: help@readytalk.com

  17. Slide 17 2015 MD Goals – New This Year Example – Recruitment • Section A has fluctuated, with some significant losses but more significant gains. There is focus and ability to recruit new members. • Section A’s 2015 recruitment goal is challenging them to recruit slightly above their last three year’s average growth. • Section B has grown steadily through recruitment and also shows clear opportunity and effort. • Their recruitment goal of +13.4% growth is not as high as some the growth they had in past years, but is above where they were last year. Web Cast Etiquette: Ask questions using the online chat feature. Technical help: help@readytalk.com

  18. Slide 18 2015 MD Goals – Get Ready • Goals and data will be sent via e-mail this week • Tracked monthly in regional MD reports • Bi-annual formal recognition for achievement • March and August Web Cast Etiquette: Ask questions using the online chat feature. Technical help: help@readytalk.com

  19. Slide 19 MD Group Updates • Questions? Comments? How can we help? • elyn.perez@ieee.org • +1 732 562 5392 • Reminder – Have membership brochures / handouts present at all events • Order online MD Kits (no cost to your OU) from www.ieee.org/md • Look for link to order MD Kits (right column) Web Cast Etiquette: Ask questions using the online chat feature.
