  4. SAT/ACT Scores • Score Choice – new this year with the SAT • No College Entrance results will be sent by MHS. All students must request official reports from the testing centers. • Difference between a score choice school and a regular school. • To Do or Not to Do. • Don’t wait to apply!

College Visits • Very important to visit a college and participate in the tour and information sessions. • Campus visits, colleges sponsoring larger forums at local hotel conference centers. • Representatives will come to MHS. • Students will register through Naviance accounts. • College Fair Dates • Wednesday October 12 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. @Montgomery County Community College • Sunday, November 6 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. @ Pennyslvania Convention Center

  7. Admissions • Early Action • Early Decision- Binding • Rolling Admissions • Restrictive Early Admissions • Selectivity – research is important

Application Process • Online is preferred by most colleges. • Common application & supplemental forms • Our Deadline -12 day advance request • Completion of all necessary forms • PSU Chart & Deadline • Hand in all materials together to Miss Fisher, not your counselor • Naviance Review w/in two weeks.

  9. Application Time Line • 12 day turn around for transcripts to be processed. • Be Aware of deadlines. • “A Crisis on your part may not constitute one on our side”.

  10. Essays • Required vs. Recommended. • Senior Year English Assignment. • Some may be good for multiple colleges, others may have to be tailor made for individual schools.

  11. Resumes • Important to highlight student activities beyond what the application requests. • Templates are on www.careercruising.com & www.educationplanner.com, as well as other websites. • Can be uploaded with online application or can be sent with the high school transcript. • Counselors can help you with this process. • Please give your counselor a copy for their records.

  12. Recommendations • Teacher • Counselor • Outside person (employer, clergy, etc.) • Forms specific to colleges • Give a 2 week advance request for teachers • Follow up with person to make sure it was sent

Career Resource Center • Open to all students! • Located next to the counseling office. • Set up with career and college resources. • Computers available for career interest inventories, college search programs, and completion of college applications. • Passes needed to access this room. • College Representative Visits will be held here.

  14. Naviance • Introduced to current seniors last spring. • Ability to look into career and college interests. • Can compare individual information to past. Methacton graduates. • Must sign up for college representatives online. • Parents and students should share their account information. • More information regarding Naviance to follow.
