Opportunities for Load Management • Electric Vehicles should be used for valley filling • TOU pricing is key • If Demand Response and Frequency Regulation revenues can be enabled by a Modern Grid they can more than pay for the cost of EV charging • Efficiency improvements possible by correctly integrating EV loads will lower the cost of energy for everyone • Doing this properly means there is adequate transmission and generation for all the cars we envision

Business Models and EV Submetering • Policies in 10 states say that selling EV Charging does not make you a utility • If you have EV electricity rates, that implies integrating submeters to measure EV consumption • Those submeters have new characteristics, new MDM systems, and require billing system modifications
