Unresolved Issue #2: Jewish settlements in the West Bank. How can there ever be an independent Palestine if the West Bank has Jewish settlements in it?. Jewish settlement on a hill in the West Bank Israel started building these settlements after the Six Day War in 1967.

  1. Unresolved Issue #2: Jewish settlements in the West Bank. How can there ever be an independent Palestine if the West Bank has Jewish settlements in it?

  2. Jewish settlement on a hill in the West Bank Israel started building these settlements after the Six Day War in 1967.

  3. There are about 300,000 Jewish settlers in about 120 settlements living in the West Bank. There are also about 200,000 Jews living in East Jerusalem.

  4. Jews travel freely throughout the West Bank. Palestinians must pass through numerous checkpoints whenever they travel. “We are prisoners in our own land.”

  5. Currently 59% of the West Bank is officially under Israeli civil and security control. Another 23% of it is under Palestinian civil control, but Israeli security control. The remainder of the territory is governed by the Palestinian National Authority

  6. Rabbi Pinhas Hayman was born in Anaheim, Calif., and is now a resident of the Elkana settlement in the West Bank. He says, "Biblically, geographically, politically, the land of Israel -- from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea -- belongs to the Jewish people. It's our right, it's our divine right. And there isn't a force on Earth that is going to remove us from these areas."

  28. The Gaza Strip is under Palestinian control – Hamas has become the leader in Gaza Israel controls the borders. Palestinians have some independence in the West Bank, but is still mostly controlled by Israel.
