  2. Protvino’s prototype 28 cm 39 cm 12 cm ■ 20 scintillator plates wrapped in paper - scintillator surface about 3 m2 - paper surface about 6 m2 ■ 19 lead plates – surface about 3 m2 ■ Fibers During the test the prototype was mounted on Al support plate (about 0.8 m2) A Gonidec

  3. Results - I A Gonidec

  4. Results - II The outgassing rate measured by CKM (5 days of pumping)is 6.7·10-9 mbar ·l /(sec · cm2) A Gonidec

  5. Conclusions • The out-gassing rate measured on the Protvino prototype confirms the figure from CKM which we use to specify the vacuum system. • With this out-gassing rate it would not be necessary to enclose the photon veto in a separate vacuum volume. • Measurements of the gas load composition still to be performed using mass spectrometry. • Progressing on the vacuum pumps specification. Firms have been contacted, proposals expected soon. • The pump down time will have to be reduce by a proper choice of wrapping material. Further tests to be done. • We are presently testing a sample of a “spaghetti” calorimeter. A Gonidec
