  6. Bennett Ratliff, one such defeated Republican, recently said: “We lost a lot of good public education supporters… It does not bode well for public education in the Texas House.”

  8. How can we afford to fund schools when our property taxes are already so high?

  9. Republicans have shifted the tax burden from commercial to residential property.

  10. The residential share of the total tax burden has increased from 42% in 1998 to over 50% today. Costing Texas, and our schools, over $4Billion in just the last 5 years.

  11. They get the breaks: You pay the bills. And our schools suffer.

  12. Sameena will fight corruption and cronyism and restore tax fairness.

  35. In Laubenberg’s Texas, attacking “Obamacare” is more important than health care coverage for 1.5 million Texans.

  36. Grandstanding against the ACA’s Medicaid expansion, Laubenberg will cost us: $8B per year in 2014/2015 $10B-$15B per year in 2016/2017

  37. This isn’t “fiscal conservatism”, or “fiscal responsibility”. This is just wrong.

  38. Sameena supports Medicaid expansion under the ACA.

  39. Sameena wants Texans to have healthcare coverage. Coverage that we are already paying to fund.

  40. Laubenberg and ALEC don’t just oppose the ACA.

  41. Laubenberg voted for an ALEC-sponsored “health care compact” that would allow Texas to control (and deny) federal health care benefits to children, veterans, the disabled, seniors, and the middle class!

  42. Haven’t heard about this? That’s because, to become effective, such compacts require Federal approval.

  43. If Republicans were to regain control of Congress and the Presidency, Laubenberg might control Medicare, Medicaid and disbursements from other federal programs.
