  7. WHAT DOES THE “SPREAD SHOT-WING” GIVE YOU? • CHANGES THE LOOK--- SPREAD • CHANGES THE TEMPO--- NO HUDDLE • CHANGES ATTACK ANGLES-INSIDE>>>OUT

  8. KEY:  KEEP THE DELAWARE PRINCIPLES IN PLACE… JUST “EXPAND”--- DON’T CREATE NEW ONES! • USE YOUR “SHOT WING” AS A “CHANGE-UP PITCH” • USE YOUR “SHOT WING” AS A MEANS OF SPREADING THE FIELD • USE YOUR “SHOT WING” AS YOUR “PRESSURE” PACKAGE

  19. OUTLINE OF PRESENTATION ATTACKING DEFENSES SETTING UP THE GAME PLAN GUIDELINES FOR ATTACKING AN EVEN FRONT GUIDELINES FOR ATTACKING AN ODD FRONT PLAY-CALLING

  20. SPREAD SHOT-WING T PACKAGEHOW TO ATTACK DEFENSIVE FRONTS

  21. GENERAL GUIDELINES: • 1st QUESTION IS ALWAYS: WHERE IS THE FREE SAFETY? 1, 2, OR 0 IN THE MIDDLE?

  22. GENERAL GUIDELINES: • HOW ARE THEY COVERING THE FLEX END? (PROBABLY NEED TO PUT BEST RECEIVER AT FE) • IS THE FLAT TO THE SE SIDE BEING COVERED?

  23. GENERAL GUIDELINES: • HOW ARE THE ILB’S ALIGNED? 1 MLB OR 2 STACKED ILB/S? THIS IS THE BASIC INFORMATION THAT WE NEED TO DETERMINE HOW WE WILL ATTACK A PARTICULAR DEFENSIVE FRONT.

  24. ATTACKING AN EVEN FRONT GO TO #4 FIRST: HOW ARE THE ILB’S ALIGNED? • IF WE HAVE 3 ON 2 (MLB) WE WILL RUN FB TRAP • IF EVENLY STACKED, WE HAVE POWER OR ISO

  25. ATTACKING AN EVEN FRONT • FLEX END IS USUALLY COVERED BY AN OLB… HOW GOOD IS HE? WE CAN TAKE STRAIGHT SHOTS WITH DROP BACK OR CREATE MIS-DIRECTION WITH BOOT-LEG. ALSO… IF PLAYING MAN, WE CAN GET THE FB IN THE FLAT AND DUMP TO HIM.

  26. ATTACKING AN EVEN FRONT • #3: IF WALK OLB UP ON THE LINE, HB PICKS HIM UP AND SE SIGNALS WITH QB TO RUN A QUICK HITCH (90’S PASS) IF CB IS LOOSE. IF CB IS TIGHT, CAN RUN SKINNY POST/SLANT OR FADE. KNOW WHERE F/S IS!!!

  27. ATTACKING AN EVEN FRONT • QB COUNTER IS GOOD AGAINST AN EVEN FRONT. DE RUNS UPFIELD SO EASY TO TURN OUT. THE ILB MUST GO WITH FIRST FAKE SO HE CAN BE TRAPPED BY PULLING TACKLE.

  28. ATTACKING AN ODD FRONT GO TO #3 FIRST: HOW DO THEY COVER THE FLAT TO THE SE SIDE? • WE LOVE TO TRAP A 50 FRONT • WE CAN GET A SINGLE BLOCK ON THE DT AND RUN POWER WIDER. • 2 DEEP SAFETIES PUTS THE FLEX END UP THE MIDDLE ON ALL GO PATTERN.

  29. THE BOTTOM LINE THE BOTTOM LINE IS THE AGE OLD QUESTION THAT “RUN AND SHOOT” PASSING OFFENSES HAVE ASKED FROM THE BEGINNING: “HOW MANY DEFENDERS ARE COVERING PASS AND HOW MANY ARE ‘IN THE BOX’?” THIS WILL HELP YOUR PLAY-CALLING DECISION AS TO RUN OR PASS.
