  3. What is Tritium Used For? • Triggering mechanism for thermonuclear weapons (e.g. the hydrogen bomb) • Luminous paint for… • Wrist watches, airplane dials, exit signs, etc.

  4. Why is Tritium Used? • Reacts with Deuterium through fusion reaction, very ideal • Goes through beta decay and ejected electron reacts with phosphors (luminescent substances) to produce light (Tritium Illumination) • Tritium Illumination requires no electrical energy; efficient
