  3. Roman Aqueducts • A canal constructed to transport water to cities and industrial sites. • The Romans constructed the greatest ancient aqueducts; some of them are still in use!

  4. Even More Roman Aqueducts • The Romans constructed over 10 aqueducts in 500 year period. • The aqueducts supplied the many baths, and fountains in the city. • Then finally being emptied into the sewers, where they finished there last job, removing the waste matter.

  5. Roman Coliseums • The Romans only had one coliseum. • It was able to hold around 70,000 people. • It’s original name was the Flavian Amphitheater.

  6. Even More Roman Coliseums • It was built in the 70’s AD. • It was finished and ready to use around 80 AD. • The coliseum was continuously used until 217, when it got hit by a lightning strike and then started a fire. • The coliseum was repaired by the year 238 and, the fighting commenced.

  7. Ancient Roman Arches • They were used in a lot of structures like aqueducts, and coliseums. • The way arches were built was a trademark of Ancient Rome.

  8. Even More Ancient Roman Arches • The Romans used arches in a lot of there buildings for two reasons: for support and for decoration. • Triumphal arches were later constructed to honor their leaders.

  9. Ancient Roman Columns • Ancient Rome used columns a lot. • Most of the columns were adopted from the Greek columns.

  10. Even More Ancient Roman Columns • They used them as support and as decoration. • Rome came up with 5 different columns known as Tuscan, Doric, Ionic, Corinthian, and Composite.
