EA 2012 Highlights • EAC Support Fund 2012: Awarded 13 Educational Projects • R10 EA Committee Meetings & EA Section Chairs Meeting & Webinars • R10 EA Committees face to face at R10 MEET in Calcutta India (March 5, 2012) • IEEE EPICS panel sessions & R10 EAC & Chair meeting at R10 Technical Conference (TENCON) – 20 November 2012, Cebu, Philippines • IEEE EAB SEOC organizes webinar for section chairs • 1st Standards Education 28 September 2012 • 2nd IEEE EAB Awards and Recognition 18 October 2012 • Number of Sections with Dedicated EA Section Chairs – 53% (+12% from 2010) • R10 EA Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/IEEE.R10.EA • TISP workshop: Brisbane, Australia 1-2 September 2012 • Awards and Nominations: • Ranjit Nair won 2012 MGA Gold Achievement Award • 2 projects (TISP/Continuing education) of Kerala Gold were supported under R10 EAC support fund 2011-2012 • R10 endorsed N Kumarappan from Madras section for his nomination for EAB Continuing education award • R10 EA will give certificate although he did not win the award this time)

  3. 2013 R10 Educational Activities (EA) • Vision/Mission: • To enhance educational activities in Region 10 by implementing: • EA Support Fund 2013 • EA Awareness to Sections • EA Meetings & Special Track in Major R10 Conferences/Congress • R10 EA Awards • To coordinate between Sections in Region 10 and EAB on the areas of the EA project that EAB supports

Proposed 2013 Projects and Activities (1) • R10 EA Support Fund 2013 (USD 5,000): • R10 EA partially supports the educational activities related projects in the following areas: • Teacher in Service Program (TISP) • Educational Outreach • Continuing Education • Accreditation • Calls for proposal for the funds Announced : March 2, 2013 Deadline : April 15, 2013 Decision : May 15, 2013

Proposed 2013 Projects and Activities (1) • R10 EA Support Fund 2013: • Requirements of proposal • Maximum support per project not more than USD 500 with at least 50% matching fund from other sources • Following the proposal format • Endorsement from Section EA chair/Section chair – submission through section chair • Project implementation May-November 2013

R10 EA Awareness to Sections • R10 EA will organize R10 EA Section Chairs meeting via Teleconference/Webinar on quarterly basis • For information sharing/discussions • R10 EA Web page on R10 Web site (http://www.ieeer10.org) • R10 EA Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/IEEE.R10.EA)

  8. Proposed 2013 Projects and Activities (3) 3. R10 EA Meetings/Special Track on R10 Conference/Workshop/Congress: • R10 EA will organize special track for experience sharing on educational activities projects on one of the followings: R10 conference (TENCON), R10 SAC/GOLD/WIE Congress, TISP workshop, R10 HTC • Details will be announced soon

  9. Proposed 2013 Projects and Activities (4) 4. R10 Educational Activities Award • R10 EA will solicit nomination for R10 EA Award as per the same categories as EAB Award. The nomination will be reviewed by R10 EA committees. The recipients of the award will received certificate from R10 and will be nominated/endorsed by R10 to consider for the EAB Award • Call for nomination is from 11 March – 15 April 2013 • Decision 7 May 2013 • Endorsement submission to EAB by 15 May 2013

Action to consider from Section Chairs • Proposal Submission R10 EA Support Fund 2013 (by April 15, 2013) • Nomination for R10 EA Awards (by April 15, 2013) • Set up Section EA Chair (for those sections that do not have one) / Update the name of Section EA chair to R10 EA • Express of Interest for TISP Workshop • Proposal Submission to EPICS in IEEE
