  4. If you have not taken the scientific method quiz yet… • You have today and tomorrow to take it

  5. Density Lab – Part 2 Purpose: Finding density of water, a medicine bottle and a rock You will need to write a Lab Report on this. I suggest you pay attention to what you’re doing. If you have a question, I am happy to help. But I do require that you listen to all instructions. 1st Consequences: Doing lab alone. 2nd Consequence: Doing an alternate assignment.

  6. Density Lab – Part 2 • To find density of WATER... • FIRST: You will need to find mass. • You will use the triple beam balance. • Measure the container, add the water, measure again and SUBTRACT • SECOND: You will need to find volume. • Easy! Use the same amount of water you had of the triple beam balance, record level in graduated cylinder • THIRD: Density – you know how to do this!

  7. Density Lab – Part 2 • To find density of ROCK… • FIRST: You will need to find mass. • You will use the triple beam balance. • Easy! Calibrate, put the rock on the balance, measure! • SECOND: You will need to find volume. • Be CAREFUL!!!! • Measure a volume of liquid. Add rock. Measure again. Subtract! • THIRD: Density – you know how to do this!

  8. Density Lab – Part 2 • To find density of BOTTLE…. • FIRST: You will need to find mass. • You will use the triple beam balance. • Easy! Calibrate, put the rock on the balance, measure! • SECOND: You will need to find volume. • Measure a volume of liquid. Add bottle, submerge. Measure again. Subtract! • THIRD: Density – you know how to do this!
