Introduction and objectives • The SMOS mission: • Retrieve global and frequent data of Soil Moisture and • Ocean Salinity • New kind of spaceborne Y-shaped aperture synthesis • radiometer: • MIRAS (Microwave Imaging Radiometer • by Aperture Synthesis) • ESA Earth Explorer, Scheduled for 2010 • Objective: • Test potential improvementsfor future MIRAS payloads • New instrument: • Passive Advanced Unit - Synthetic Aperture (PAU-SA) • Award EURYI 2004 by A.
