  2. Julia alvarez • Julia Alvarez was born in New York City, New York and failed to stay in the United States. When she was three years old her family decided to return to their homeland in the Dominican Republic. As a child Julia had trouble with the English language and persevered to try and understand the foreign language. She soon discovered the world of books and imagination and she studied creative writing from high school throughout college which led her to become a writer. Some of her works include How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents, A Cafecito Story, and etc.

  3. Julia alvarez’s writing style • Uses a lot of figurative language such as alliterations • Point of view mainly in third person describing her personal feelings toward the character

  4. Literary terms • Alliteration: since I was smart, was primed, praised, polished, scolded, and advised.
