  2. Class Description School: Boston Day and Evening Academy Grade: Undergraduate (grades 10-11) Make up of class: Heterogeneous Set up of classroom: Four tables with six chairs each Materials: One student computer, one teacher computer, LCD projector available. Classroom is wireless

  3. Angles, Parallel Lines and Transversals Glencoe Geometry Chapter 3.1 Parallel Lines and Transversals Massachusetts Geometry Standard (8.G.4): Demonstrate an understanding of the relationships of angles formed by intersecting lines, including parallel lines cut by a transversal.

  4. Purpose of Lesson This lesson will reinforce the language of lines, angles and angle relationships. Students will have worked together to complete several worksheets that may be used as references throughout the activity. Students will have individually written vocabulary card and may use these as references throughout the activity.

  5. Lesson Plan • Students will review vocabulary orally • Students will review worksheets and quiz each other in pairs • Class will be shown the applet and given the instruction page for using the applet http://www.shodor.org/interactivate/activities/angles/index.html • Students will be given the instructions for using this applet http://www.shodor.org/interactivate/activities/angles/how.html • Teacher will lead class in activity of four examples with one transversal • Students will work in pairs to complete four additional examples

Lesson Plan (continued) • Teacher will lead class in activity of four examples with two transversals • Students will work in pairs to complete four additional examples and fill in Angles Worksheet chart http://www.shodor.org/interactivate/activities/angles/worksheet.html • Teacher will show real world examples of parallel lines cut by transversals

  7. Homework • Look around your neighborhood to find parallel lines, perpendicular lines and transversals
