Malcolm X’s Childhood • was born on May 19,1925, in Omaha, Nebraska • got threats from people • eventually his house was burned down • father died in a supposed car accident • mother went crazy without father, putting all of her seven children in juvenile homes • turned to a life of crime with nobody to teach him right from wrong www.pbs.org

  3. Life in Prison • read and copied words from the dictionary • was interested in learning how to read and write • borrowed tablets and dictionaries from the prison • Bimbi inspired him to learn because he was jealous of his knowledge • embraced the Black Muslim faith gatheringforces.org

  4. Violent Protesting • made speeches convincing people to support his idea of non-integration and black power • felt that King had “not a dream but a nightmare and he [MLK] was too dumb to know it”. • believed that violence was a good way to protect people of non-fairness examiner.com

  6. Assassination • preparing to make a speech • tried to calm the people • shot him in the chest with a shotgun • had 21 gunshot wounds, ten of them from the initial shotgun • assassinated February 21, 1965 • buried in FerncliffCemetery in Hartsdale, New York findagrave.com
