  2. What kind of graphics can you insert into a PowerPoint slide show? • You can insert clip art pictures that come with PowerPoint. • You can insert your own pictures from files. • You can apply graphics files as backgrounds to your slides.

  3. How do you insert a PowerPoint clip art picture? • Click on Insert, then on Picture, then on Clip Art.

  4. Browse through the categories of clip art to find the picture that you like. • Click on the picture of your choice and then click on Insert. • Adjust the size and add text boxes and text to complete the slide.

  5. Like this… Like this OR… like this! You can adjust the size of a picture by clicking on it and pointing at one of the 8 handles with the cursor. Hold and drag the mouse until it is the size you like. Helpful Hints on Sizing Your Pictures If you drag diagonally on the corner handles, you adjust the size proportionally larger or smaller. • If you drag up, down, left, or right on the middle handles, you will distort the picture.

Quick Review Card : Inserting a PowerPoint Clip Art Picture • Insert a blank PowerPoint slide. • Click on Insert, then on Picture, then on Clip Art. • Browse through the categories of clip art to find the picture that you like. • Click on the picture of your choice and then click on Insert. • Resize the picture by clicking on it. Then click on one of the handles and drag it diagonally or up and down or left and right to make it larger or smaller.

  9. 4. Browse through your computer’s hard drive to select a picture file. Highlight the picture you like and click OK and OK again. PowerPoint likes EMF, WMF, JPG, BMP, etc. graphics file formats. It will handle other formats if it has the correct graphics filter installed.

  10. 5. Click on Apply to apply that picture as background to the current slide or Apply to All to apply it to the entire presentation.
