  1. A Reflection Of Modern Life Ecclesiastes 1:9-11 This is a true principle for men … and for Satan. I John 2:15-17 Context: Genesis 1-2 Text: Genesis 3 James 1:22-25

  2. A Reflection Of Modern Life Trouble Begins Where Satan Is (v. 1) All is well until Satan enters the picture! His work began by trying to plant a seed of doubt in the mind of the woman. Numbers 22:8-14 (Balaam)

  3. A Reflection Of Modern Life Trouble Begins Where Satan Is (v. 1) Times when this happens today: God’s marriage law (Matt. 5:32,19:9) The church (Matt. 16:18; Eph. 4:4) The truth (Jn. 17:17) A “crack in the door” is all that Satan needs! He can go the rest of the way!!

  4. A Reflection Of Modern Life Blatant Contradiction Of Truth (v. 4) The woman did not fall into Satan’s trap, but answered him (v. 2-3)! Now it is: Genesis 2:15-17 vs. Genesis 3:4 Other times God’s word was contradicted: Numbers 13-14; I Samuel 13; Jeremiah 28; Acts 10:10-16

  5. A Reflection Of Modern Life Blatant Contradiction Of Truth (v. 4) Have things changed? No! Plain statements in Scripture are contradicted! Mark 16:16 Matthew 16:18 I Timothy 5:22 I Timothy 4:1-2

  6. A Reflection Of Modern Life Satan’s Further Attempts (v. 6) Now that she questions God and has to choose between Satan and God, her own desire is used against her …. She gives in to temptation to satisfy her lust (I Jn. 2:15-17; Jas. 1:14-15)!! Other times: (I Pet. 4:4; Gal. 5:19; I Tim. 2:9-10; Heb. 10:25; II Tim. 4:10; Col. 3:9)

  7. A Reflection Of Modern Life Satan’s Further Attempts (v. 6) Another method: Using one’s influence against another … Sometimes men serve as Satan’s servants! Ahab and Jezebel (I Kings 16:30-31, 21:25) Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1-11) I Corinthians 15:33

  8. “What Must I Do To Be Saved?” Hear The Gospel (Rom. 10:17) Believe In Christ (Jn. 8:24) Repent Of Sins (Lk.13:3) Confess Christ (Rom. 10:10) Be Baptized (I Pet. 3:21) For The Erring Child: Repent (Acts 8:22), Confess (I Jn. 1:9), Pray (Acts 8:22)

  9. A Reflection Of Modern Life Consequences Follow Our Sin (v. 7-24) A moment of temptation and sin brings a multitude of consequences!! The ultimate consequence = spiritual death (Gen. 2:17; Rom. 6:23)!
