  2. High School Liaisons • Each school has designated one individual to be their high school liaison for the College Now program. • There is a liaison list inside your folders today. Please let us know of any changes to your school’s liaison if necessary. • This is the contact I will be in touch with regarding important information, deadlines, etc. Please make sure they are passing information along. SMSU College Now Student Eligibility • High Schools are responsible for verifying eligibility of students • Seniors: 3.0 GPA and top ½ of class • Juniors: 3.0 and top 1/3 of class • Sophomores: top 10% and scores over 90% on a nationally standardized test. Transcripts and test scores are required. • Test scores can be used to replace class rank if needed. 50th percentile for seniors and 70th percentile for juniors • Appeal process – must be completed within the first 5 days from the start of the course. Can be completed earlier if possible. College Now Expectations and Opportunities Session

Registration • Students needing to complete the application, should do this step right away on the first or second day of class. • Teachers should plan to set aside enough class time to go through the registration process • Students will register themselves through the SMSU E-Services website. Have students double check their schedule to ensure they are registered correctly. • Step-by-step instructions for this process can be found online on our College Now website and will be e-mailed to liaisons before the start of the year. They can also be found in your folders. • No more late registrations allowed following billing • Roster verification should be completed immediately after the 10th day College Now Expectations and Opportunities Session

  6. Surveys • For accreditation purposes, the College Now program is required to conduct several surveys of the different individuals involved with our concurrent enrollment program. • Student Satisfaction • Teacher/Counselor/Principal • 1 year student out • 4 year student out College Now Expectations and Opportunities Session

  7. Grading Procedures A+ • Final grades need to be submitted to the Supervising Professor at the end of the course. • Grades should be to mentor within one week of the course ending at the high school. • Only SMSU faculty are allowed to enter grades. • Check to ensure grades are entered and entered correctly through e-services. Transcript Request • Official Transcripts • Handled by our Registration and Advising Office • Requested completely online (do not complete paper copies) • Not an immediate turnaround • Requests are only good for 30 days. Students should not complete this process until the course is complete. • Unofficial Transcripts: • Sign on to E-services (check the Display Name box) • Click on Grades and Transcripts • Can be obtained immediately College Now Expectations and Opportunities Session

Who to contact SMSU Faculty Mentor -Questions regarding anything with the course itself including: content, rigor, expectations, testing, grading and issues related to academic misconduct College Now Coordinator – All registration issues including e-applications, course registration, verification, process of applying to teach additional courses Concurrent Enrollment Director – Issues related to concerns with mentor, academic misconduct, student appeals, and any general issues or concern with the SMSU College Now program College Now Expectations and Opportunities Session

  10. Teacher / Mentor Relationship • Professor will visit teacher once per course • Professor will be available via phone, fax, email or skype etc. for support • Professor will provide curriculum, materials, tests & supplements upon request • Professor has final authority on university grade • HS will initiate request for visit for earlier date or extra visit • HS will contact professor if questions arise regarding course • HS will request additional supplemental course materials if needed • HS has final authority on HS transcript grade College Now Expectations and Opportunities Session

  11. Instructor Goals • To work with the mentor to become a member of the university community and culture. To acquire habits of mind, knowledge sets, and skill sets appropriate to the university instructor • To work with the mentor to understand course content and pedagogy • To work with the mentor to maintain appropriate rigor in outcomes expectations, student success, and assessment • To enter the university community as a university instructor • To create an academic atmosphere that demonstrates college rigor • To ask questions and receive answers
