  1. EDUC 5555Assessment & Intervention Class #11: Final Class for this course

  2. Today’s Objectives • Course Overview • SUU Registration and payment • Next Steps • Final assessment: PLC RtI Action Planning

  3. Reminder to complete Course evaluation • Hopefully everyone has taken the time to complete the course evaluation. If you haven’t please do so before you leave tonight: • http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CSDMATH

  4. Course Overview • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGJ2gggTptA • This 7-minute video discusses RtI and Improved Math Achievement. Listen for points about • Assessment • Intervention, and • the teacher’s role in math achievement • The system’s role in math achievement

  5. SUU Registration and $45 • Complete your course registration and attach your check for $45 made payable to SUU • Course facilitators will collect registration forms, checks, and will return in sealed district envelope to EBL, c/o Kina Tua

  6. Next Steps • We have changed the sequence of the next two courses. Our next course will be: • EDUC 5525: Geometry & Measurement… time to put our “math thinking caps” on again as we take on spatial reasoning through geometry and measurement! 

  7. Class Final • Create PLC groups of 3-4 participants. (Less than 3 will make it difficult to have a rich discussion, and more than 4 will take more time than we wish to spend on this task.) • It is not necessary that team members are from the same grade level, but if they are in similar grade levels, it will help with the assignment.

  8. CLASS FINAL • In your PLC, each of you introduce your student or class math concern, show the data you have brought that led you to identify the concern, and use the PLC RtI Action Planning Guide to create a plan for each teacher.

  9. CLASS FINAL RUBRIC • Your work as a PLC will be evaluated by your PLC members, with attention to: • Contribution: Provided useful ideas and relevant information. • Working with Others: Listened, shared, and worked well with peers. • Focus: Stayed focused on the task and what needed to be done. • Preparedness: Brought needed materials and was ready to work.

  10. FINAL RUBRIC SCORING • Course facilitators will • total the number of points earned for each participant, and • divide that sum by the total points possible (this will vary depending on # of group members: groups of 3 = 32 pts possible, groups of 4 = 48 points possible) • to determine a percentage. • They will then apply that percentage to the 50 points possible for the final (as per the syllabus), and give that final score accordingly.

  11. FINAL RUBRIC SCORING • HUH?!? • For example, if Teacher Y is in a group of 4 teachers, and she receives 40 of 48 points, 40/48 = 83.33% • 83.33% x 50 points = 41.66, so Teacher Y scored 41.6 points on the final, which is equal to an 83%. 

  12. PLC TIME! • Please allow 15-20 minutes per member of your group to complete this assignment. • THANK YOU!
