Healthcare: Top Priorities • Improve entitlement process to contain costs & help hospitals qualify for state funding, as seismic retrofit deadline approaches. • Address gap between workforce needs of healthcare employers and ability of educational institutions to meet those needs while improving ability of local residents to access training and employment opportunities in this sector. • Address hospital financial crisis. • Improve public safety and the City’s reputation generally so as to enhance the ability of hospitals to recruit employees and build a customer base.

Healthcare: Strategies • Streamline the entitlement and planning process. • Create an inter-disciplinary coordinating entity to document and • address regional healthcare industry workforce needs. • Enlist the active support of local public officials to advocate on • behalf of the industry cluster’s priorities.   • Convince state to adopt a statewide strategy that addresses the • reimbursement needs of hospitals serving all demographics. • Support other healthcare providers including community health • clinics, doctors, and other independent care givers.
