Mission The ISO Auditing Consortium (IAC) is an organization of: (1) individuals who participate in audits of requesting organizations to meet audit experience requirements to achieve or maintain the status of Assessor of Quality Management Systems, as well as, (2) individuals with related audit or Quality Management interests.

  3. Types of Audits Performed • Full or partial system audits • May substitute for “internal audits” • Independent assessments • Pre-assessments (Gap Analysis) • Supplier audits

  4. Standards of IAC Audits Audits to recognized ISO standards including but not limited to : • ISO9001:2008 • QS9000, TS 16949 • AS9100 • ISO 17025, ISO 13485 • ISO 14001

  5. Audit Duration • Depends on size of site/company • Typical audit: two auditors for two days • Lead assessor must “lead an audit team” to receive credit for audit

  6. Audit Locations • Centered in Huntsville, AL region • Audits completed in: • Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Mississippi, Pennsylvania & Tennessee • International: Mexico & Canada

  7. Members • 30 current members • 15 regularly attend; active as IAC auditors • No dues are required for membership. • >80% of IAC are ASQ members • >80% hold Quality positions in local firms • <20% employed by registrars or consultants • May NOT solicit pre-, mid- or post-audit of IAC

  8. Member Status Regular: An individual seeking to achieve or maintain the status of a Registered Assessor or Lead Assessor of Quality Management Systems and meets one of the following criteria: • Is an ASQ Certified Quality Auditor with intent to successfully complete a recognized Registered Lead Assessor course, • Has successfully completed a recognized Registered Lead Assessor course, OR • Is a Registered Lead Assessor, Assessor or Provisional Assessor. Senior An individual who has conducted audits for the IAC and no longer maintains the status of Assessor of Quality Management Systems, but who wishes to continue participation in and contribute to the organization. Non-Auditing An individual not seeking to achieve or maintain auditor certification who wishes to participate in the organization to learn about ISO 9000 and the auditing process and to contribute lessons learned.

  9. IAC Member Applications • May join IAC as a Regular Member with minimum of CQA • Encouraged to complete a recognized ISO 9000 Lead Assessor Course • Encouraged to pursue certification as: • Provisional Auditor, Auditor or Lead Auditor

  10. Auditor Accreditation • RABQSA – Sydney, Milwaukee, Tokyo, etc. • IRCA – London-based • Auditors must: • Maintain accurate audit log • Recertify every three (3) years • Maintain continuing educational and audit days

  11. IAC Member Company • A company represented in the IAC by one or more individual members. • Companies requesting an IAC audit are not required to be Member companies.

  12. Costs to Requesting and Member Companies • Auditor compensation – None allowed • Auditor Expenses • Travel only: meals, mileage, & lodging (if applicable) • IAC is compensated by company support: • allowing audits of the member company, • allowing employees to attend monthly meetings & • participate in audits usually on company time.
