Guided by: Dr.Lakshman Rao SMALL SCALE ELECTRICITY GENERATION USING BIOMASS
Why…………..? Shortage in Non-Renewable resources. Need of Electricity. To reduce global warming. Electricity - consumption (billion kWh)
Due to shortage of power Villages - 12 hrs Towns - 6 hrs Cities - 3 hrs Because of these above cited reasons we have developed this system Data from AP electricity board
What is Bio-mass……………? Biomass, as a renewable energy source, is biological material from living, or recently living organisms. As an energy source, biomass can either be used directly, or converted into other energy products such as biofuel. Eg: Garbage, Wood, Wastes etc………
Conversion of Biomass Energy… There are a number of technological options available to make use of a wide variety of biomass types as a renewable energy source. In general these are classified into Thermal conversion. Chemical conversion. Biochemical conversion.
Our setup Biomass stove Solar plate Pressure cooker Stop valve Nozzle Turbine Dynamo LED bulb
Conversion of Biomass energy into Heat energy. Heat is used to convert water into wet steam with pressure energy. Nozzle converts pressure energy into Kinetic energy. Kinetic energy is used to run turbine attached to dynamo. Dynamo converts rotational energy into Electrical energy. How it works…………? Can we watch a video.......
Since Biomass energy is renewable its doesn’t lasts. Biomass energy doesn’t cause any harm too environment. Available throughout the world. Cheap when compared to other fuels. Advantages…
1. Efficiency will be low when compared to coal and other fuels. 2.Transportation involves complexity. Disadvantages…
Future aims…………. To become an entrepreneur in this field to serve the people Biogas and solar are to be attached to this system 1.Mounting a pressure gauge. 2.Increase the pressure. 3.Manufacturing a Turbine. 4.Calculation of efficiency. 5. Design for continuous feeding of fuel.
Conclusion With minimum cost of resources electric power to be generated. Biomass is an alternative source(fuel) for future use. Biomass stove can be used even for cooking. This is one of the solutions to over come the power crisis.
