Detention Facilities • Dire need of construction of new detention facilities • Need to address overcrowding, • Transport of inmates is burdensome • Lack resources to hire and operate facilities • Tribes in Nevada – look into the construction of a regional facility
Law Enforcement • Increase law enforcement staff • Address quicker response times • 638 contract – Criminal Investigators • Improve BIA radio systems • Address border-related crime
BIA Recommendations • Any changes of the BIA should not undercut the BIA budget. • Conduct assessment and evaluation of recent re-organization • Focus on developing data infrastructure and management that is inline with tribal priorities and GPRA/PART measures • Re-focus initiative at regional level
