  3. 1. Major activities • KIEC is in charge of UBL support activities in Korea • Has held 2 meetings since Ottawa F2F • 2005. 9. 28: renewed KRLSC membership • 2005. 12. 7: made 2006 activities plan • UBL 1.0 translated into Korean was approved as one of the ECIF standards, December 15, 2005

  4. 2. 2006 activity plan (1/4) • Looking for collaboration and interoperability between other standards and organizations • UN/CEFACT • Korea electronic document standards • Synchronization, harmonization and alignment

  5. 2. 2006 activity plan (2/4) • UBL 2.0 localization activity • UBL 2.0 translation into Korean • UBL 2.0 guideline development • UBL 2.0 use case and best practice development

  6. 2. 2006 activity plan (3/4) • UBL 2.0 reviewing Working Group activity • Procurement, catalog review for local use • Case study of Denmark UBL use case • Translation, guideline and use case development of UBL 2.0

  7. 2. 2006 activity plan (4/4) • Develop UBL pilot project • Public Procurement Service in Korea is interested in UBL adaptation • PPS expressed an interest in joining UBL activities • PPS will be considering the use of UBL for their procurement service this year as a pilot project

  8. Consideration for UBL promotion (1/4) • Fund has a significant role in UBL activity • Government supports F2F meeting expense only as an international standard experts • KIEC is in charge of UBL in Korea, but does not actively participate in financial supports for UBL activity

  9. Consideration for UBL promotion (2/4) • UBL promotion • Insufficient number of UBL experts • No use in Korea • If problems exist in UBL in terms of adaptation in Korea, how to identify and solve

  10. Consideration for UBL promotion (3/4) • What are the strong points of UBL compared to UN/CEFACT TBG activities? • Horizontal use / vertical use • Western oriented / oriental oriented • Large company / SME

  11. Consideration for UBL promotion (4/4) • The future of UBL • Relationship with UN/CFACT: to be merged with TBG groups or to remain as UBL WG • After the OASIS standard approval of UBL 2.0, no more UBL F2F meeting?
