  8. 1st Battle Of Bull Run • July 21st, 1861 • Location: OccoquanRiver (tributary of the Potomac) witch is in Virginia. • Union general: Brigadier General Irvin McDowell • Confederate general:Brigadier General Beauregard • Confederate casualties:1,898 • Union casualties:2,896

  9. Battle of Gettysburg • Date: July 1st-3rd ,1863 • Location: Gettysburg, Pennsylvania • Confederate general: General Robert E. Lee • Union general: George Meade • Confederate casualties:23,231 • Union casualties:23,055 • The significance of this war was that it had the most casualties, and the most soldiers for each side. It then also started the winnings of the union troops.

  10. 2nd Battle of Fort Fisher • Date: January 15th , 1865 • Location: Kure Beach, NC • Union general: Major General Alfred Terry commanded 9,000 troops,Rear Admiral David D. Porter commanded 60 ships • Confederate general: Major General W.H.C. Whiting commanded 1,900 troops at the fort. • Robert F. Hoke commanded 6,400 troops just north of the fort. • Casualties: union:1,338 confederate:538 • The union won and got the port back

  11. Battle of Appomattox Courthouse • Date: April 9th,1865 • Location: Appomattox Court House, Virginia • Union General: Ulysses S. Grant • Confederate General: Robert E. Lee • Casualties:union: 164 confederate:500 and 27,800 surrendered • It was the end of the war, and the confederates surrendered to the union.

How did the Civil War affect America’s Future? • I think that the civil war was the best thing that ever happened to the America. because I think that if we had never had the war that their. would still be a lot of racism I also think that we would. still be fighting and we also would still have a lot of racism around. so I am glad that we had the war. because it helped us all come together as friends and also some what as family.
