Advancing Literacy: Reading to Learn Goal and Objectives • Improved reading achievement for all children, with a special emphasis on those in grades four through twelve Goal Objectives • Stimulate broader knowledge base for successful reading practices beyond third grade • Foster favorable federal and state policies that will ensure funding for successful literacy practices for children in grades 4-12 • Ensure high-quality literacy instruction is the focal point of teaching and learning and has a prominent place with school improvement plans • Increased awareness among educators, policymakers and the general public about the adolescent literacy crisis
