  1. Pronouns A noun names a person, place, or thing. A pronoun is a word that can take the place of a noun.

  2. Read each sentence. The underlined word is a noun. Rewrite the sentences on your own paper using a pronoun in the place of the underlined noun. When you are finished, use the down arrow to check your answers. • Officer Buckle knew more safety tips than anyone. • Mrs. Toppel took down the banner. • The children sat up and stared. • The audience cheered! • The envelope was stuffed with thank you letters. • Officer Buckle gave Gloria a kiss. • Gloria gave Officer Buckle a kiss, too.

  4. Challenge Work!! • Write two new sentences using nouns. Underline one noun in each sentence. Switch papers with a neighbor. Rewrite your neighbor’s sentences and replace the noun with a pronoun. Make sure that it has a capital letter and an end mark.
