Background More than 20 storms entered the Philippines in 2006, six of them affected Bicol directly, three of which were super typhoons Typhoon Milenyo hit Bicol in Sept. 28, 2006, causing heavy damage in Sorsogon Typhoon Reming (Nov. 30, 2006), directly hit Albay with maximum wind speed of 230 kph

  3. Damages 707,966 families or 3,536,342 persons were affected in 14 provinces of 3 Regions (incl. IV-A, V) 734 dead, 2,360 injured and 762 missing persons in the 3 regions 588,037 houses were damaged - 40% totally; 60% partially Estimated damage to agriculture and infrastructure amounted to Php 5.4 billion

Bank’s Immediate Response located and checked the situation of employees Bank employees helped clear the roads to the bank inspected damages at the Main office and branches (Tiwi and Sorsogon) cleaned up; recovery of forms, recovery of data and repair damages to the building prepared for liquidity fluctuation conducted survey on the status of the borrowers distributed relief goods to heavily-affected clients
