WBL/YAP Program Updates House Bill 766-legislative update CCRPI • Percent of graduates completing a career-related Work-Based Learning Program or a career-related Capstone Project (moves to face of CCRPI in 2016-2017). Grant Requirement Highlights • YAP Coordinator position equal to grant amount must be reported on the system CPI report • Coordinator must be trained • Coordinator must attend State sponsored Professional Learning events • Must submit Annual YAP Assessment • Funding continuance is dependent on meeting the grant requirements Youth Apprenticeship Conference • 2013-14 was held in Dalton, Georgia May 5, 6, & 7 2014. • 2014-15 TBA December 2014
3 Common Denominators for All WBL Placements • Student Career Goal: A student that does not know what he/she wants to be (at least what they think at this stage in their life) is not a good candidate for WBL. • Related Course Work: In order for a work experience to be relevant to Career Education, there must be some relevant coursework linked to the career goal. • A Related Job: The employment or internship experience must be an application of the related coursework which is linked to the student’s career goal.

WBL Job Placement Categories • Employability Skill Development (ESD) • Less than 25% of total placements • Job placement doesn’t relate to pathway • Cooperative Education (Co-op) • Concurrently enrolled in a matching CTAE course & job placement • Internship • Youth Apprenticeship (YAP Tracking) • Credentials: End of Pathway Assessment Completer, HIPAA Credential, OSHA 10 Card/Construction, CNA, etc. • YAP Completers will not be removed from CTAERN. Completer certificates can be printed from CTAERN.
