  1. At depth 2 At depth 1 Goals and Objectives General Objectives: • To explore the benefits of novel fiber-optic technologies in the Microscopy area. • To initiate the research into Bio-engineering and improve the relationship with other groups around Campus. Project Objective: • To implement and evaluate a compact, reliable, wavelength-tuneable pulsed laser source for Two-Photon Microscopy. Key Technologies: • Two Photons Excitation, High Power Pulsed Fiber Lasers, Stimulated Raman Scattering and Photonic Crystal Fibers. • Two photon microscopy is an advanced technology which enables unprecedented resolution in tissue analysis. The use of compact fiber-laser will make technology more practical and flexible. • Help Kansas Bio-medical industry with a revolutionary technology and an advanced instrumentation. • The formation of a multi-disciplinary group of Basic Sciences and Engineering is a key for the success in the challenging field of Bioengineering research.
