  2. Colonization Definition: • The act or process of establishing a colony or colonies • Think about the 13 Colonies!

  3. Imperialism • The practice of having power over a nation/region by gainingauthority/controlover political and economic activities.

  4. Partition(-ing) • To divide into parts or shares.

  5. Artificial Boundaries • Boundaries or borders that are notformed naturally. • Remember that artificial boundaries created in the Ottoman Empire?

  6. Civil War • Fight between opposing (opposite) groups within a country in hope to gain control.

  7. Closing • In 4+ complete (strong) sentences explain the following: • What did Africa have that Europeans wanted? And how/why did it lead to the Partitioning of Africa • Use evidence from the maps (natural resource/colonization) to defend your answer • “In the map I saw, _______________________”
