  1. What does an ADJECTIVE DO? • An adjective describes or modifies a noun or pronoun. The Fosters had a good time when they took a train to Chicago. The excited family climbed aboard the train. They found adjoining seats in an empty row. Finally, the train pulled out, and the dark train yard disappeared from view.

  2. There are many different types of adjectives, however they all describe or modify a noun or pronoun in some way. • We are looking at two types of adjectives today • Comparative • Superlative

  3. Comparative Adjectives • The Comparative adjective is used to compare two nouns or pronouns. To create a comparative, add -er to the end, or use more before the adjective. • Ex: The Nile is longer than the Amazon. • Ex: Many students find writing more difficult than reading.

  4. Superlative Adjectives • The superlative adjective is used when you are comparing three or more nouns or pronouns. It shows quality above or below the level of the others. To create a superlative add -er to the end, or use more before the adjective. • Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world. • It is the most expensive restaurant I've ever been to.
