  2. Hypothesis:the correctness of understanding and the translation success of neologisms are conditioned by a number of subjective factors, the style of the text and the correspondence with the norms and the rules of the target language

  3. The aim of the work is a more detailed research into neologisms, detection of creation patterns and peculiarities of translation into Russian.

  4. Aims: • To classify neologisms • To detect ways of neologism creation • To study the peculiarities of neologism translation from English into Russian • To specify the definition of “neologism”

  5. Types of new words: • Neologisms • Potential words • Occasional words

  6. Neologisms--new words consolidating in the language Potential words Pen-users and pencil-users – те, ктопользуютсяручкойикарандашом Unliftable – неподъёмный Untamed--неприрученный

  7. Occasional words Toughneck – has two parts “tough”—упрямый, несговорчивый and “neck” translated as “человек” so “toughneck” is “упрямец” Getatable--get+at+able, где get at - “дозвониться, добраться; понять; подкупить”;get at table - “собираться вокруг стола”. Back life--back: задний, отдаленный; запоздалый, устаревший, старый, просроченный. Backdoor: “задний, черный ход”, background : “задний план”. “Задворки жизни” is a better variant to express these meanings.

The ways of neologism formation: Word addition carryback - "перенос убытков на более ранний период” dail-a-meal –«заказ еды на дом», net + etiquette = netiquette “неписаные общепринятые правила общения или размещения информации в Интернет” teacherspeak—сленг для учителей, medspeak—сленг для медиков brunch—(breakfast + lunch) поздний завтрак

  14. The stages of neologism translation from English into Russian: 1. Understanding the meaning of the neologism (a translator either looks it up in the latest editions of English Glossary (encyclopedia) or understands the meaning taking into consideration its structure and context). 2. Translation by means of Russian: transcription, transliteration, calking, descriptive translation.
