What is Driver Information Resource (DIR)? • DIR is a web-based lookup capability that provides easy access to individual driver safety performance and compliance history • Contains data on ~3.5 million drivers • Allows a user to search by driver for a driver’s crash and inspection history regardless of a driver’s employment history • Allows a user to search by carrier for a driver’s crash and inspection history while operating for the carrier • Available to FMCSA and state enforcement personnel

Where does DIR data come from? • DIR is derived from MCMIS event records • 5 years of crash data with ~500k crash records • 3+ years of inspection data with ~10.5 million inspection records • Data processing groups events into driver histories • Basic data cleanup is performed on the driver identification fields in the crash and inspection records • Advanced matching algorithms are implemented to match crash and inspection events by driver identification fields to form driver histories

How do I access DIR? • DIR is available on FMCSA’s Analysis and Information Online (A&I Online) website in the ‘FMCSA Tools’ area • Visit A&I Online at http://ai.fmcsa.dot.gov/ • Select ‘FMCSA Tools’ from the A&I home page • Select login for ‘FMCSA or State Enforcement Users’ • Enter UAS account username and password • If you do not have a UAS account, contact FMCSA Tech Support for more information • Select Driver Information Resource from ‘FMCSA Tools’ page

How do I use DIR? • Using ‘Search by Driver’ capability • Enter Last Name or License Number and select ‘Search by Driver’ • First Name or License state filters available to narrow results • Use ‘ * ’ to create wildcard search • Review driver search results and select driver from list • List of drivers can be sorted by last name, license # or state, date of birth, # crashes, # inspections, # of driver OOS inspections, # of vehicle OOS inspections • Select driver to view driver activity history regardless of driver employment

How do I use DIR? • Using ‘Search by Carrier’ capability • Enter U.S. DOT# or Carrier Name and select ‘Search by Carrier’ • State filter available to narrow results • Use ‘ * ’ to create wildcard search • Review carrier search results and select carrier from list • List of carriers can be sorted by U.S. DOT#, Carrier Name, City, State • Review list of drivers who have activity while operating for the carrier and select a driver from list • List of drivers can be sorted by last name, license # or state, date of birth, # crashes, # inspections, # of driver OOS inspections, # of vehicle OOS inspections • Select driver to view driver activity history while associated with the carrier

  7. How do I provide feedback on DIR? • To send feedback on DIR • Select Feedback from top A&I top navigation bar • Select ‘Driver Information Resource’ from the module selection list • Enter comments and select Submit Feedback is appreciated and reviewed with a response sent within 24 hours
