Life and Education • Born June 13, 1937 in Andhra Pradesh, India • Son of an agricultural landlord • B.E. in Civil Engineering from Guindy College of Engineering, 1958 • M.Tech from the University of New South Wales, 1960 • Employed by IBM in Australia, 1960-1963 • Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford in 1966 • Speech Recognition under John McCarthy • Lives in Pittsburgh with his wife and two daughters
