  10. setting Various places throughout Tolkien's fantasy world known as Middle -earth.

  11. setting Which is, oddly enough, very much like New Zealand.

  12. Summary In a small part of Middle-earth known as the Shire, Frodo’s Uncle, Bilbo Baggins mysteriously disappears on his birthday. He of course leaves Frodo everything. This also included his ring. But what Bilbo did not know was that this particular ring held an evil power so strong, that it could control all of Middle- earth…..if only it was in the hands of its true master; the dark lord Sauron. Frodo now must take the ring back where it was forged. For the ring can only be destroyed in the fires of Mt. Doom.

  13. summary Frodo’s first task was to reach the Elven haven of Rivendell which he eventually reaches with the help of a lone ranger from the north; Strider (Aragorn) and his three lifelong friends Merry, Pippin, and Sam. Here, it is decided that a fellowship shall be made to accompany Frodo to Mt.Doom; the Fellowship of the Ring. This fellowship includes the elf Legolas, the dwarf Gimli, the men Aragorn and Boromir, the four hobbits Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin, and Frodo’s friend and advisor, Gandalf.

  14. summary from here on, the fellowship shall endure hardships like no other. Through death and life, the fellowship must succeed. For the fate of all of Middle-earth lies in the small hands of the small hobbit Frodo Baggins. “Even the smallest person can change the course of the future,”

  15. Author info John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born in South Africa in 1892. at age 3, he and his parents, Arthur and Mabel, returned to England. Tolkien had taken a great interest in languages around age 7. by ages 8 and 9, he had already made up a few of his own languages, but he eventually destroyed them. Throughout his teenage years, he studied many ancient languages, which later became the inspiration for his fictional, but yet fully complex, languages seen in the Lord of the Rings and other works he wrote. Later in 1916, just after marrying his childhood sweetheart, he was shipped off to the front lines in WW1.

  16. Author info After returning home , suffering from trench fever, he began writing down a few notes about this world that began to unfold in his head called Middle-earth. to sum up the rest of his life and not bore most of yall to tears, in the 1930’s, he began to write his first Middle-earth book; the Hobbit. Then later in 1954 and 1955, the published the Lord of the Rings. The book a little while to catch wind, but eventually, it became a best seller

  17. Author info But tragically, on September 2, 1973, just before the publication of his next book, the Silmarillion, he died of pneumonia. His son Christopher, later took his Father’s notes and comprised a few books of history, culture, and philosophy of Middle-earth, including the Silmarillion. Over the course of more than 50 years, J.R.R. Tolkien created a world so full of life, that it is every bit as complex as our own.

  18. Do I recommend it? Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is by far the best book I have ever read. It was so good, I spent one of my days on thanksgiving break completely engrossed in it. I sat on my bed for like 5 hours straight reading it!!!Although, I only recommend it to people can read a more intellectual form of writing, and to those who can be patient enough to read through some boring stuff every now and then.

  19. overall, this book is above and beyond great. I have already started two of Tolkien’s other books; The Hobbit and The Silmarillion. J.R.R. Tolkien enjoying a nice pipe

  20. “Quote” “The Road goes ever on and onDown from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone,And I must follow, if I can,Pursuing it with eager feet,Until it joins some larger wayWhere many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say.” Bilbo’s song sang at the beginning and end of the book. Although the lyrics are different at the end, you'll have to read it to find out what they are.
