District Testing Schedules • Set district testing schedules within state-designated testing windows • Use estimated test administration times to help with scheduling • Post district testing schedules on your website • For online administrations, provide the window(s) the tests will be administered in • For paper administrations, provide the specific testing dates education.state.mn.us

District Testing Schedules – MTAS • For MTAS, districts have entire testing window to administer the test and enter scores • Do not need to set specific testing dates because test is individually administered • All scores must be entered into Data Entry Interface • Science MTAS window ends one week prior to Science MCA testing window education.state.mn.us

District Testing Schedules – Minnesota Alternate Assessment: Writing • May be completed at any time during the school year • Results for grade 9 students must be entered in Data Entry Interface during the MTAS window • Results for grades 10–12 kept on file at the district • Pass at Individual Rate entered into the Graduation Requirements Records (GRR) system education.state.mn.us

District Testing Schedules – ACCESS and Alternate ACCESS for ELLs • Scheduling of test administrations is determined by the district within the testing window • Individual administrations: • Alternate ACCESS for ELLs • Kindergarten ACCESS for ELLs • Grades 1–12 Speaking Test • WIDA recommends administering in this order: Listening/Reading, then Writing, then Speaking education.state.mn.us

District Testing Schedules – Online Administrations • Reading and Mathematics MCA, Reading and Mathematics MCA-Modified, and Science MCA online administrations • Students test one time per subject within testing windows • Different testing windows • Mathematics MCA begins one week earlier • Science MCA goes one week later education.state.mn.us

District Testing Schedules – Online Administrations • Testing schedule can be set separately for each school and grade across the district • Scheduling arranged around computer availability or coursework completion • Includes grade 10 Reading MCA and MCA-Modified online administrations • Students can pause tests at different points • Specific pausing rules must be followed • Scheduling is not based on segments education.state.mn.us

District Testing Schedules –Online Administrations • Scheduling administration of paper accommodated test materials for online tests • Use same online testing window • Not required to follow state-assigned test dates for grade 10 Reading MCA and MCA-Modified • Enter all responses into Data Entry Interface during testing window education.state.mn.us

Selecting Test Monitors and Test Administrators • All Test Monitors or Test Administrators must be employees of the district who have been trained and have signed Non-Disclosure Agreements • For Title I and diploma assessments, select Test Monitors from ranked list provided in Procedures Manual • For MTAS, Test Administrators must annually complete MTAS Training for Test Administrators education.state.mn.us

Selecting Test Monitors and Test Administrators • ACCESS for ELLs and Alternate ACCESS for ELLs • Must be a licensed teacher or administrator for Alternate ACCESS for ELLs • Must be a licensed teacher or administrator for kindergarten ACCESS for ELLs • Use ranked criteria in Procedures Manual for grades 1–12 ACCESS for ELLs education.state.mn.us

Selecting Test Monitors and Test Administrators • All ACCESS Test Administrators must complete online Test Administrator’s Training for first year of administration • Recertification • For Alternate ACCESS: annual recertification for all domains • For kindergarten ACCESS: annual recertification for all domains • For grades 1–12 ACCESS: annual recertification for the speaking domain only education.state.mn.us

  21. Training Staff • All staff involved in testing must be trained by the district each year • Includes Test Monitors and MTAS, ACCESS for ELLs, and Alternate ACCESS for ELLs Test Administrators • Non-Disclosure Agreements must be completed by all staff involved in testing • Online Test Monitors must complete agreement in TIDE in order to administer online tests education.state.mn.us

Training Staff • Training should include: • District test security procedures • Policies and procedures related to staff roles in test administration • District may have staff participate in additional online trainings provided by MDE or vendor • Online Test Monitor Certification Course • Training Modules I and II education.state.mn.us

Training Staff • Training completion must be documented • Determine method for documenting that individual staff have been trained • Track Online Test Monitor Certification Course and online Non-Disclosure Agreements through TIDE • Provide documentation of training for individual staff if there is a security breach education.state.mn.us

Preparing for Test Administration • Set up district and school users in TIDE, as needed • Staff administering online tests • Staff assigning resources in Learning Point Navigator or accessing results in Online Reporting System • All users must complete Non-Disclosure Agreement in TIDE education.state.mn.us

Preparing for Test Administration • Ensure students have reviewed item samplers and online student tutorials prior to testing • Use Test Monitor Training Site, if needed • To practice for test administration, Test Monitors must use this site with item samplers • Online Testing System must not be used to practice for test administration or administer item samplers education.state.mn.us

Receiving and Organizing Secure Test Materials • When test materials arrive, they must be kept secure at all times • If shipped directly to schools, verify that each school received test materials and test materials have been secured • Find and open Coordinator Box • White box included in every shipment • Contains manuals, directions, security checklists, and return materials education.state.mn.us

Receiving and Organizing Secure Test Materials • Inventory using security checklists • Verify you received all test materials sent • Track chain of custody of test materials • Provides documentation if test materials are not returned to vendor • Kept on file at district for 12 months • Contact vendor if test materials are missing or damaged education.state.mn.us

Distributing Secure Test Materials • Distribute non-secure materials, like Test Monitor Directions, prior to test administration • Secure test materials should not be distributed prior to testing, except for: • MTAS test materials • ACCESS and Alternate ACCESS Test Administrator’s Scripts • Preparation for some accommodations education.state.mn.us

Verifying Information for Paper Test Administration • Verify preprinted student information • Can still use answer document if demographic information is incorrect (e.g., misspelled name) • Must hand bubble student information and use district/school label if: • Another student’s name or MARSS number is preprinted • Grade is incorrect • Test assignment has changed • Student recently enrolled education.state.mn.us

Preparing for Online Test Administration • Work with technology staff to prepare computer labs for online testing • Complete Site Readiness process with Technology Coordinator by March 1 • Successfully completed all site readiness steps to prepare for online testing • Difficulties completing all site readiness steps and actively working to resolve the issues education.state.mn.us

Preparing for Online Test Administration • Ensure eligible students are loaded to TIDE with correct test assignments and accommodations • Make changes for online assessments in Pretest Editing in Test WES, as necessary • Changes must be made at least one day prior to testing education.state.mn.us

Students in Special Circumstances • Shared-time students • Private school or home schooled students • Not required to take Title I tests, regardless of what class(es) that they are taking • LEP-identified and receive eligible instruction must take ACCESS for ELLs • Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) • Full time • Part time education.state.mn.us

  41. Verifying Accommodations for Online Administrations • Verify accommodations are indicated before administering the test or entering data into the Data Entry Interface • Test settings and accommodated text-to-speech can be adjusted at the time of testing, if needed education.state.mn.us
