  1. Armijo 1st Annual Reading Fair! The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” ― Dr. Seuss

  2. What is a Reading Fair A reading fair is a forum for students to show and expand their thinking about a book or author, in a creative hands on way utilizing story elements of both fiction and nonfiction books.

  3. Purpose To provide an opportunity for students to share a deeper understanding and knowledge of books through fun creative ways such as a storyboard, story boxes, and diorama, while promoting literacy.

  4. When and Where? Students or classrooms will work on projects throughout the month of February. They will be displayed for viewing in the cafeteria during Dr. Suess Night. March 4, 2014 5-7 pm

  5. The Process • Students will choose one of their favorite books or author from any genre. • Students will create a display to show the key elements from the text. • Students will turn in projects to room 504 with entry form. (February 24th-March 3rd)

  6. Ideas of what to include • Problem • Solution • Authors Purpose • Characters • Setting • Title • Author • Plot Summary • Pictures • Theme • Graphic Organizers • Book Report

  7. What Do the Projects Look Like? Reading Fair projects do not look one way! Students are encouraged to find fun creative ways to display information that they have gathered for the books they choose. Students can choose from any genre or author, which allows students to cross curricula for their projects.

  13. Guidelines • Projects can be done independently, small groups, or whole group at home or in the classroom. • Projects should be colorful and unique • Projects should be child centered • Projects should be creative and fun • Projects can be done in student home language.
