INEE GLOBAL MEET-UP • Welcome to the December 2013 INEE Global Meet-Up! • INEE Meet-Ups are open and informal gatherings in all corners of the globe where INEE members and others can network, share experiences, and discuss relevant topics.
History of the INEE Minimum Standards • Developed in 2003 – 2004, updated in 2010 • Developed and updated by over 3,500 educationalists from over 52 countries • Based on the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), Education for All (EFA) and the Humanitarian Charter • Are now companion standards to the Sphere Standards • Mainstreamed 11 thematic issues: protection, psychosocial support, conflict mitigation, disaster risk reduction, early childhood development, gender, HIV and AIDS, human rights, inclusive education, inter-sectoral linkages, and youth.
Discussion Questions • How have you applied the INEE Minimum Standards in your own work in the last 10 years? For what purpose and in what context? • What are some accomplishments and challenges you have had using the INEE Minimum Standards in your particular context? Please give specific examples. • How have the INEE Minimum Standards influenced your work (projects, organization, approach) over the past 10 years?
Share your experience! • Make a short video sharing: • a) your name • b) your location • c) one way you have used the INEE Minimum Standards in your work. • Share a few paragraphs with the INEE Secretariat on how you have used the INEE Minimum Standards for an advocacy, policy or project development or implementation on education in emergencies.
