  3. Label each sentence a type of sentence (Declarative, Exclamatory, Interrogative, Imperative). • Declarative. Caroline and Madison like to watch soccer. • Interrogative. Did you see those shoes in the store window? • Imperative. Kick the ball down the field. • Exclamatory. This weekend was so much fun! • Imperative. Come to my room this afternoon. • Interrogative. Can you hear the thunder outside?

Find the SUBJECT (by restating the question or finding you in the imperative sentences.) • Can you see the score from here? • (you) Go see if you can hear the announcer from over there. • Will you ask her a question for me? • (You) Take this to your sister. • (You) Go to the back of the classroom. • Did that car just run a red light?

  7. Run-Ons and Fragments • Run-on. I have a fun time at summer camp because we swim a lot. • Fragment. My father works as a mailman. • Run-on. The people who work at the mall are kind. They usually give me free samples.

  8. Simple. After the swim met, my family went to dinner. • Simple. My brother and I went to see the football this weekend. • Compound. The snake was in the cage, but it still scared my little sister. • Complex. I like going to Disney World this time of year because the weather is pretty. • Simple. Sally and my brother are going to the park and watching the birds. • Complex. Although Homecoming is next week, I will still be grounded for being late.
